The system has been functional for nearly 6 months now. Although pH is still high, everything seems to be growing nicely.
We have taken out a bunch of lettuce that went to seed, and now freed up some of the space that was used by some gourds. That should give us some more nutrients for the existing plants. One of the tomatoes that looked diseased and that never managed to give fruit suddenly started producing - and pests seem to be well under control. I'm not sure whether this is due to the fact that we don't have much that they like there or that there's so much other green stuff around at this time of year that they have no need to prey on the aquaponics, we'll see as summer draws nearer.
